Loony Troons and Woke Homophobia
Words have meanings
For the launch of this sub, let’s talk about one of my favorite new words, which I will admit straight-up is a slur. Troon.
Take it away, Urban Dictionary:
The original word came from a small online community where its members call themselves ‘goons’ and trans users on the forum were thus called troons. But it’s really a word that has shifted meaning within the hidden world of small Discord servers where gender-critical topics are discussed on voice chat, where anonymous people have debated the term and how they use it online.
Make no mistake, it is a slur. But it’s a political slur (i.e., libtard) and because it is political my opinion is anyone who wields it has license to do it within the realm of debating gender and trans topics.
Not all transpeople are troons, in fact most aren’t
But just about every non-cis trans-rights activist (other than perhaps Contrapoints and certainly not Blaire White) is a troon.
If you’re trying to file fake abuse reports to website hosts because of something you read, you are a troon.
If you’ve spent much of your online life under anime/cartroon profile pictures on your socials, you are a troon.
If you can’t stop saying cisgay (There’s only one gay, baby. You don’t need to put cis in front of it), you are a troon.
If you spend most of your time consuming ideology and none of your time analyzing ideology like gay people did in the Gay Rights Movement, you are not just a troon, but a self-sabotaging one at that. More on that at the end.
Why even use the term
Considering how badly the trans-rights movement is faring in terms of total LGBT acceptance (it’s going down, not up) and how deeply rooted TRAs have become in leftist politics, the slur simply fits. In the dark cloakrooms of the Internet the word is freely bandied about.
I use it.
Especially when I have a random account with a cartoon pfp coming at me, calling me a faggot. Practitioners of present-day woke homophobia deserve the term and should wear it like a tiara.
Troons practice a scorched-earth deconstructionist approach to activism that discards A/B testing and relies on projection far too much. For the sake of trans rights and gay rights, activists need to grow up and interact peaceably with the rest of society.
Transwomen are Women
To demonstrate one cycle of TRA/troon failure, let’s take the most-often used slogan that troons themselves have spent a lot of time and money promoting that went mainstream: Transwomen are women.
The slogan works great on social media websites, but to the average Joe who barely uses social media, this slogan bombs horrifically. That average Joe probably saw the Gamestop Trans video, with the misgendered transwoman effervescing toxic masculinity…
Or South Park…
Or any mainstream story mentioning the ongoing controversies around trans-athletes. Transwomen are women ultimately rests on a foundation of belief that there are no differences between someone born male and someone born female, and any if there are any, it’s negligible. Transwomen are women. It means that HRT, puberty blockers, therapy, social transition equalized everything. Science has now created a female body out of a 20-year old male.
For those troons about to shoot off “but Annony, it’s just a different type of woman” let me remind you of Troon God himself, Chase Strangio appearing in this Teen Vogue video with transpeople and troons together claiming there’s no differences, all the way to the molecular level…
Even medical transition advocates can’t support this claim when a man in his 40s begins transition. HRT doesn’t have that much of an effect on transwomen when starting that old. Besides being Republican, no TRA is running to showcase former Olympic athlete Caitlyn Jenner in context when this troonism is debated seriously.
The slogan should have been Transwomen should be treated no differently than any other woman. It fits in a tweet but it doesn’t squeeze into a protest sign that well.
Anti-Progress Progressive Troonishness
The most important marker of all that a transperson is a troon is self-sabotaging behavior. Only a few people within trans-ideology get to think critically in the open, a troon’s only purpose is to signalboost ideas that come from a reduced set of gender-theory thinkers.
This comes in the form of the long-standing problem in the trans community of not A/B testing their ideas and messaging against the normal population and spreading dangerous advice to transpeople. For instance:
“You shouldn’t have to tell him that you’re trans.”
Really? How long are you going to stay in the closet, girl? What are you going to do with your medicine cabinet when you cohabitate? Did you ever consult with transmen who have no real choice but to disclose to their partner (because of where medical transition is at with FTMs)? Is that even fair to give that advice since transmen have no choice but to come out of the closet right away?
It’s advice that is borderline trans-misandry, nevermind the fact that cispeople are often the losers here, too.
Tithe, dammit
When troons are about to ship out a new release of ideology, without fail there is an online-discourse war deep within the community that always features booting out members of the church until an appropriate level of compliance is achieved and everyone is signal boosting the new concept in the open. It has all the features of Scientology.
Unfortunately for trans-activists this often results in disappointment. It didn’t take but a week after “birthing individuals” was rolled-out as a substitute for the gendered term “mommy” before the general public rejected and destroyed that dehumanising campaign.
I can’t imagine the level of frustration from silent transpeople who have to watch this circus and cannot say a word lest it causes torn friendships. Of the transpeople I personally know and love, they all avoid engaging with activists and never voice themselves online about trans issues. To be fair, they all completed their journeys so they can leave the toxic communities behind, which they all did.
